Debate on Syria in Straatsburg – Udo Voigt criticizes Western double standards

In the European parliament in Straatsburg, the latest developments in Syria are fiercely debated. The Russian intervention has inflicted more damage to the Islamist throatcutting-militia “Islamic State” within a few days than nine months of Western airstrikes. Transatlantists and Russia-haters of all kinds make accusations to Moscow because of this strong approach.

As the Russian commitment is also directed against supposed “moderate”, Western-backed terrorist groups, it received the unconditional support by the NPD‘s MEP Udo Voigt. In his speech, he could refer to first-hand information that could be obtained during a visit to Syria in June. He recalled the words of Christian dignitaries there, who warned Europeans not to accept a policy of open borders for Syrian “refugees”: Christians, they assured, where never prosecuted in Assad‘s Syria, and they have lived together with Muslims for centuries.

Udo Voigt also condemned strongly the double standards in Western politics and anti-Syrian propaganda. While the Russian airstrikes on positions and facilities of Islamist terrorists where criticized, American and Turkish attacks that are ultimately to the benefit of IS where silently accepted.

Udo Voigt literally said: “The Islamic State must be engaged on the ground, and I therefore welcome the involvement of the Russian special forces in Syria.”
