The man arrested for the brutal slaying of MP Jo Cox appears to be yet another example of the social damage done in Britain by years of government cuts to mental health services and the farce of ‘care in the community’ (i.e. abandonment in a lonely uncaring world). But those saying that Thomas Mair had no political connections are also very wrong. The truth appears to be much more complex, revealing a picture so confused as perhaps to bear out the idea that the root of this tragedy is indeed a mental health issue.
Assuming the material that we have tracked down online is genuine, then Mair’s links to the ‘extreme’ right are so confusingly mixed that it is perhaps little wonder that Britain’s notoriously lazy journalists have so far made no effort to go beyond repeating the now strongly disputed claim (right, image from Breitbart http://www.breitbart.com/london/2016/06/16/breaking-labour-mp-jo-cox-shot-stabbed-constituency-surgery-yorkshire/ ) that he shouted ‘Britain First’.
Indeed, if the information we have pieced together about his ‘far-right’ connections is correct, then far from making the killing an issue of extremism, it all actually points further to a deeply confused individual. In particular, the two foreign ‘far-right’ groups with which he allegedly had contact belong to two totally different – and incompatible – extremes.
Even Britain’s lazy and incompetent media has picked up on the fact that Mair was at one point a subscriber to the South African Patriot, a one-man band operation run by South African émigré Alan Harvey.
Yet to present Harvey as some kind of sinister big player on the ‘far-right’ is either gross ignorance or deliberate deception. Because anyone with any knowledge of that ‘scene’ knows that Harvey has for decades been regarded as a bad joke and a crank. And that, far from being some sort of ‘neo-Nazi extremist Godfather’, he is well-known for his outspoken pro-Zionism and widely despised for his long-running hatred of the Boers, the Afrikaans-speaking population who formed the backbone of white South Africa.
Even within the reactionary, high-Tory and generally pro-Zionist Swinton Circle in London, with whom Harvey (on right of photo in open necked shirt) was associated when he first turned up in London in 1987, Harvey quickly became regarded as a troublemaker – at best an oddball and at worst one of the large number of informants and agents provocateur maintained and paid by the Communist (Stalinist) front organisation ‘Searchlight’.
Unlike his flitting between different organisations as he has fallen out with everyone else, Harvey’s pro-Zionism has been consistent. It formed a major part of his extreme hostility to the British National Party, an attitude he shared with his one-time associates in the Swinton Circle (effectively part of the Monday Club wing of the Conservative Party) several of whom, including its Secretary at around the time of Harvey’s involvement, barrister Adrian Davies, also ran a long-running campaign of criticism and disruption against the BNP.
Harvey also had a long-running feud with Arthur Kemp, another Anglo-stock South African émigré who the far-left are desperately trying to link with Mair. If such a ‘link’ is found, it is likely to be through books, since Kemp is a prolific writer and Mair is reported to have been ‘obsessed’ by books.
Such a ‘link’, however exciting to the far-left, hell-bent as they will be on coming up with a ‘neo-Nazi conspiracy’, would actually mean absolutely nothing, save that a man with an interest in South Africa read one or two books by a man who writes books about South Africa.
Many years on from his first squabbles with ‘rightists; in London, Harvey certainly hasn’t changed. Only a few months ago, for example, he sent this message during a row with a pro-Boer campaigner:
“Dear Mr. Sen, I refer to your recent FaceBook message. The people you associate with are notoriously neo-Nazi, and _______ is a sinister organisation which we would seem to have nothing in common with. Upon ‘Googling’ your own name I see that you were expelled from UKIP for anti-Semitism. Our organisation is 101% pro-Israel. We therefore want nothing to do with you. Yours sincerely, Alan Harvey, Organiser, the Springbok Club.”
While the slightly more alert parts of the UK media have picked up on Mair’s unexplained interest in South Africa several decades ago, they took until lunchtime today to find apparently crucial information which surfaced in the United States late yesterday. The Telegraph has now just published it.
This is an article on the well-known website of the Southern Poverty Law Centre, like its long-term UK partner Searchlight a strange Communist/Zionist hybrid that uses the ‘fight against fascism and racism’ as a lucrative business.
The SPLC, which also funds a network of informants and agents provocateur in ‘far-right’ organisations, has produced copies of what it claims are invoices made out to Thomas Mair from the book-selling arm of the National Alliance, once America’s most notorious ‘neo-Nazi’ organisation.
Despite the SPLC’s own notoriety for concocting evidence, we have presumably to take these invoices as genuine, since to forge such things would surely be to end up on serious charges of wasting police time.
Taken at face value, the invoices show that, in 1999 and 2003, Mair ordered, for delivery to his home in Lowood Lane, Batley, a series of books and magazines from the Alliance.
Alongside the neo-Nazi ideology, of particular note is the fact that the Improvised Munitions Handbook included detailed instructions on how to make a hand-gun, complete with a picture which looks remarkably like the sketch shown on the TV news last night to illustrate the sort of weapon used in the shooting.
If the National Alliance connection is proved and turns out to have been a decisive factor in this terrible crime, then it should not be overlooked that, at the core of its founder’s ideology and all its propaganda was an intense hostility to Christianity as a supposedly ‘alien religion’ and a fanatical adherence to the deeply anti-Christian philosophy of Nietsche.
Here is an extract from some of the writings of Alliance founder Dr William Pierce on Christianity:
“Beyond this question of whether it is the race-mixers and Zionists or the pro-Whites who are the real Christians, there are the troubling issues of the non-European origin of Christianity: of the great body of Christian ethical doctrines which are accepted by nearly all the churches but which conflict with White spirituality and the needs for White survival, such as the Sermon on the Mount; and of the body of Old Testament and its Jewish mythology — such as the creation myth of Genesis; the “chosen people” myth, and Isaiah’s ravings against all non-Jews, together with his prophecies that the Jews will eventually rule the world and all other races will serve them — which comes along with most versions of Christianity.
“All three of the aforementioned issues are relevant to the mission of the National Alliance, and they cannot be ignored: We must look to our racial roots, and we must rid ourselves of alien influences, including those from the Levant; we must govern ourselves by White values and ethical doctrines, and by no others; and we must concern ourselves with truth alone.”
In the Alliance magazines and newsletters to which Mair allegedly subscribed, Dr Pierce even tried to create a new religious cult: ‘Cosmotheism’.
Pierce described this as being based on “[t]he idea of an evolutionary universe … with an evolution toward ever higher and higher states of self-consciousness,” and his political ideas were centred on racial purity and eugenics as the means of advancing the white race first towards a superhuman state, and then towards godhood. In his view, the white race represented the pinnacle of human evolution thus far and therefore should be kept genetically separate from all other races in order to achieve its destined perfection in godhood.
Such views are, of course, completely at odds with the resolutely pro-Christian stance which underpins the ideas and actions of the APF. But whether Mair actually took on board any of this is of course unknown at present, but it would be a little ironic if the overwhelmingly atheistic and anti-Christian international socialists of the Labour Party has now found itself the target of a hostility generated by the atheistic and anti-Christian ideology of National Socialism.
It surely all goes to highlight the wisdom of GK Chesterton, when he noted that “When a man stops believing in God he doesn’t then believe in nothing, he believes anything.”
Or to put it another way, when the cultural Marxists set about destroying Christianity and traditional morality, they should have realised that, if successful, their drive would create a broken, ugly, violent society in which they and theirs would be as unsafe as everybody else. That does not, of course, in any way excuse the murder of Jo Cox, but it may go some way to explaining it.
Despite the clear – and totally contradictory – links to the cruel neo-Nazism of the National Alliance and to the eccentric pro-imperialist, anti-Boer, pro-Zionism of Alan Harvey, the most likely finding of the long process of inquiry and justice that now lies ahead will be that, fundamentally, Thomas Mair was a disturbed, neglected, lonely and inadequate individual with long-inadequately addressed mental health issues.
The sort of person who, in a society in which human values and common sense came before profit, would have been properly cared for in a sheltered institution, not left to volunteer to help Pathways Day Centre for adults with mental health problems to build a “faith garden” – a solid fact which in itself both proves the mental health issue in all this and goes a long way to dispel any idea of a motivation involving ‘racism’ or ‘Islamophobia, since, in West Yorkshire, such council-funded initiatives are inevitably about community relations between indigenous Brits and the Muslim community. Hardly a scheme likely to welcome, or be chosen, by an ideologically driven ‘far-right extremist’.
Hence the best place to look for explanation as to what went wrong is probably not in the works of Dr William Pierce but in those of New Labour’s one-time favourite social scientist, Professor Robert Putnam.
Because disturbed loners are not generally created by conspiracies or the ideologies of political extremists, but by the chronic alienation and loneliness of an atomised society. Putnam’s classic, Bowling Alone: The Collapse and Revival of American Community serves as a warning in Britain too.
In particular, beyond his general thesis about the decline of ‘social capital’, there is his finding that there is a direct correlation between the ‘diversity’ of a society and the degree of alienation, mistrust, criminality and tensions to be found in it. This is what should give the liberal-left pause for thought as they rage against the ‘hatred’ that killed Jo Cox.
Because the truth is that there probably is a connection between the growing enthusiasm for Brexit that was so alarming the liberal elite in the days before her murder, and the incoherent rage presumably felt by Thomas Mair – perhaps even at Ms Cox’s insistence that it would be a wonderful idea to bring untold numbers of ‘Syrian refugees’ to Britain in general and, one assumes, for she was clearly no hypocrite in such matters, Batley in particular.
“Nobody listens to us” …. “ They’ve ruined this place” … “It’s just not our country any more” … “Nobody cares”…”The heart’s gone out of the place”…”The pubs have all shut”…”When they killed the pit they killed the community”…”Why can’t they leave anything alone?”
Consider the smug triumphalism of the Islington elite. The arrogant dismissal of anyone who dares to dissent from the narrative that ‘diversity’ in a glorious blessing. The totalitarianism that seems to insist that TV news and weather forecasts should be dominated by members of an ethnic minority – all with cut-glass public school accents and never a Brummie, Scouser , Tyke, Stokie or any other English working class man in sight. The ruthless demonisation of anyone who objects as ‘racist’.
Finally, there is the blatant electoral gerrymandering and fraud, coupled with an endless deluge of propaganda, used to crush the ten year effort by ordinary working people in places like Batley to create through the BNP a political organisation to give voice to their concerns about immigration and globalisation. And the fact that it is now evident to anyone with a brain and a knowledge of the reality of places like West Yorkshire that the whole leftist ‘Project’ to remake society has been so ‘successful’ that the old Britain is dying and cannot be revived.
Really, why should those who did this feel surprised when, from among the ruins in the places and communities that lost out, comes a cry of political rage like we were about to see next Thursday (it remains to see if this tragedy will change that, other than by ‘freezing’ the campaign for several days which would otherwise have seen continued movement towards ‘Leave’), or the occasional unhinged outbreak of wicked, futile, counter-productive violence?
The two are indeed connected; not by the politics of those who have had their country, their communities and their identity smashed, but by the road to hell good intentions of all the out-of-touch liberal elitists who are today in shock that one of theirs is the latest victim of the amoral shambles that they have done so much to create. The answer would be the peaceful, democratic mobilisation of those who oppose these trends through constitutional means.
